Episode 46 Show Notes:
In today’s episode Tom discusses his 6 podcasts and blogs to seek out in 2016. What makes up these top 6? These are student and online ministry focused blogs and/or podcasts (even though 1 may not seem like ministry, Tom explains why it is in the list) that are consistent (posts multiple times a week) and continue to produce quality content.
Although some of the 6 are similar in content, the 6 of them are, in Tom’s opinion, the best of the best in their particular field.
In NO particular order the top 6 to seek out in 2016 are…
Ben Kerns – he can found at AverageYouthMinistry.com. The thing about him is that his writing and ministry is anything BUT average. He’s got years of knowledge and a great perspective on how to reach this current generation of teens for Christ. And he surfs too, so that is reason enough to check out his blog.
Church Marketing Sucks – you don’t have to have the title of Church Communicatior to be a Communicator. If you are involved in a ministry, you need to know how to communicate correctly and ChurchMarketingSucks.com will help you do just that!
Justin Knowles – another California guy (Ben Kerns is the other) that posts great leadership topics for Student Ministers. He blogs regularly at Blog.DownloadYouthMinistry.com with some of the big wigs of youth ministry. So you know if they trust him to post good content, you should trust him as well! 🙂
Social Media Examiner – they may not be a ministry focused site, but they have been the MOST effective source of content I have received about how to use social media for my ministry this past year. The reality is, all ministers are marketers in a way and we need to know how to effectively reach our target audience. SocialMediaExaminer.com gives you consistent content each day in how to do that effectively.
Christopher Wesley – Chris is a Catholic Youth Minister with a ton of knowledge and experience. He has a great blog (ChristopherWesley.org) and a weekly podcast that speak to a variety of different topics everyday youth minsters go through.
Pro Church Tools – ProChurchTools.com is very similar to Social Media Examiner but they focus solely on churches and ministries. Not only do they offer a blog but they also offer a podcast and video blog as well. They have a ton of great resources for church communicators.
