Why Facebook Reactions is a Win for everyone

Facebook just added new “reactions” to the standard “like” yesterday.  So instead of just having the ability to just “like” a status update you can do up to 6 reactions.  What are those reactions and how do you post them?

On desktop, simply hovering over the standard like button and on mobile press and hold the “like” button will bring up 6 new “reactions”. You can now posts a like, love, haha, wow, sad or angry symbol instead of the simple “like”.

Rather than just simply liking a post on Facebook, you can now use one of these 6 new reactions.

So why is this such a win?  Because, by adding these reactions, Facebook has done a few things:

  1. Not every status you post is likable. In fact some posts just downright stink.  But until now all your friends could do is “like” it or comment, which in all honesty can be awkward. So Facebook reactions allow you to have different reactions to the different things that are going on without simply liking it or comment. A win for consumers!
  2. It shows that Facebook is up with the times. Tweens and teens are using emojis all the time.  Actually, everyone are using emojis. So to keep them attracted to your social media platform this was a must for Facebook and a nice, colorful addition to the Facebook newsfeed. A win for consumers and Facebook.

By adding these new Facebook reactions it adds a freshness to Facebook which will keep people engaged on their social media platform.  That’s what Facebook wants and consumers want as well. A win for all!
