the Monday Morning Debrief: Super Bowl Parties

Super Bowl Parties are long a tradition in Student Ministries.  I know some don’t do them, but over the years I have used the Super Bowl as one of my biggest Outreach events of the entire year.  Why?  Because everyone watches the Super Bowl…why not put on an ultimate party and share the gospel as well (we turn the TVs off at Halftime and do our own halftime show with a gospel presentation).

In light of this past years Super Bowl, which wasn’t really ever a game, if you did a Super Bowl Party for your student ministry, what was the big takeaway you took away from the night?

For me, it was that making this night special for girls (especially those who don’t like football).  Many times when you say football party, it doesn’t necessarily attract a bunch of girls.  But, by putting a greater emphasis on reaching girls yesterday, it ended up being a huge win for our ministry.

This year for the we made a nail salon section in our building and the girls LOVED IT!  In fact, we have one leader who cuts hair and she started cutting hair after halftime.  It was great!

So, as you process what went well and not so well last night, TAKE A MINUTE and share some of the great things that came out of the evening and how you plan to capitalize on it for the future.
