Students we “lost” last year

At the end of the calendar year there are always these “Year in Reviews” that are posted.  The Best Sports Team and the Greatest Accomplishments are just two of the many lists that show up each year. One of the reviews which I actually enjoy looking at is a review of all the Celebrities we “lost” via death over the past year. No, I’m not morbid or anything like that, but I enjoy reading up on people who passed away and look at how we choose to remember them. Here is Yahoo!’s list of Stars We Lost in 2012.

So how does this apply to ministry?

Very simply…who are the students we’ve “lost” in 2012?  Not in terms of death, but in terms of attendance. Who are the ones who once came but no longer come? Do we even know?

TAKE A MINUTE right now and think through your students. And then devise a plan to reach out to them again and reconnect with them.  If, through a plan of reaching out to them, grabs just one student who reconnects and then begins to follow the Lord more, then it’d be worth it.

Thoughts?  Experiences?  Comments?  Post some so that we can all benefit from it.

Great post, Tom, and an excellent reminder to go after that one sheep that went astray. How often we get consumed focusing on the 99!
