How to Accept Gifts as a Minister

Ministers don’t exactly make a lot of money.  I mean, there are some that do (if they have a book deal or is a national speaker). But unless you live in a geographic region has has a high cost of living, most are underpaid and overworked.

The great news about this is that many people in your congregation know this and are very generous.  Therefore they want to give you a gift especially around the holidays.  And some gifts they give are really nice!  For instance, they might give you a week at the beach or the mountains. Or they might make you food (and lots of it).  Or it could be a cash donation.

The only problem I have found over the years is that many ministers are uncomfortable receiving these gifts.  They love to give, give, give, but getting is hard to do.

So what do you do when you get such a gift? Watch this video to find out.

When you get such a nice gift…regardless of what it is, say thank you and enjoy the blessing. Ministers work long hours and very hard. Allow people to bless you with their gifts…regardless of what it is.
