However, in 2020 most are Churches will be online only. That means a lot of things that Churches used to do to honor moms are no longer options.
So how to you make Mother’s Day special for moms and families in this online world we live in today? What can you do? Here are 6 ideas:
- Videos. You can do this a few different ways. You can ask for and collect videos from kids saying happy Mother’s Day to moms and possibly sharing favorite moment with her. Or, you can collect just pictures of moms and families. You can show these during the Church service and/or on social media.
- Give Starbucks. Put a bunch of money on a Starbucks card. Then take the QR code and post it on social media encouraging moms to enjoy a cup of coffee on the Church that day. Don’t know how to do this, it’s really easy. Here is a quick step-by-step.
- Alphabet Book or PDF. You can do this a few different ways. One way is to encourage families to order a blank book from Amazon or use computer paper from home to make a booklet. Or, you could simply provide a PDF with the letters A-Z listed in columns. Whatever way you do this, the idea is for the children fill out what they love about their mom using every letter in the alphabet.
- Mom’s Night Out/Tea on Zoom. This is a Zoom call where you invite moms to hangout, talk, maybe even have a mom or two share an encouragement and then give away prizes. This is your chance for moms have a time of their own and be with other moms. Having shared experiences like this can be very encouraging.
- Flowers or Food Delivery. This would be a fun opportunity to partner with a store in the community and have food or flowers delivered. Depending on the size of your Church you could it for all moms or just your volunteers that you are serving with.
- Make Mom’s Day Special PDF Checklist. This is a checklist you create and put in a PDF form. It can highlight a bunch of different ideas that you can send to dads and kids on how to make mother’s day special. It only has to be a simple page with fun ideas and then the family can make it special for the moms.
