Video conferencing has become essential for people everywhere these days. From businesses to schools so ministries, having video conference capabilities is really important now. And while there are plenty of video conference platforms out there, Zoom has far and away been the clear winner so far. In the month of March 2020, Zoom had over 200 million daily active users, which is a substantial hike from the 10 million daily active users that was their previous high month.

So what have been some lessons learned from doing ministry on Zoom so far? Watch this video below, listen to the audio or read below the 4 lessons learned from using Zoom as a ministry tool.

Security is key. Whether you have a password set up or a waiting room, or both, it is so important to keep Zoom Bombes out.

Middle Schoolers are more responsive. This could be just my group, but from what I’m seeing, more high schoolers are less likely to attend fun, social game night gatherings than middle schoolers. Middle school students seem to really enjoy these calls and will make it a priority to come than high schoolers.

Keep lessons short. The reality is you are limited in what you can do online, especially since so much curriculum is geared towards teaching in person. Now, that will likely change very soon but since the resources are not there, it is hard to keep their attention span long (not to mention they can be on zoom while also checking instagram and other stuff at the same time).

Zoom is a legitimate tool student ministers can use from this point forward. Online Parent Meet Ups, Bible studies
