The Monday Morning Debrief: Serving those hit by disaster

This past week Hurricane Irene hit the East coast. Although it was not as major as originally predicted it did still cause major disruptions & caused a lot of damage.

In the spring a tornado wrecked havoc in Joplin, MO bringing devastation to communities and ruining many lives all over that area. They will be recovering for years from that one night.

This made me think of how do I, as a minister, respond when disaster strikes. It doesn’t need to be a natural disaster but it could also be a tragedy like a suicide or death of a loved one.

How prepared are you to respond to those who are hurting? If you are a minister on the East Coast I would love to hear what you today to reach out to those hurting today from Irene.

Post a comment or thought.
