Orange Week: What I really want to learn

As the Family Guy at New Life, I am not just doing Youth Ministry but I help out with the Children’s Ministry as well.  Part of that role will be expanding soon for me as I’m going to be one of the Storytellers for our Sunday Morning teaching time with the elementary school children.  It’s actually a very exciting challenge for me because as a father of 4 daughters under 10, I really want to learn how to be an engaging Storyteller to my children and other children as well.

That is why I am excited that Orange ’12 is right around the corner.  See last year there were tons of great children’s ministry seminars to go to and a few on the art of storytelling.  Last year I went to that seminar and I heard all the great information (even took notes) but it wasn’t as relevant to me because our children’s ministry was not doing live teaching then (we were doing KidMo).  Well times have changed and starting in March we are doing live teaching AND…I’m gonna be one of those teachers.  So learning all the tricks of the trade and understanding what it means to be a really effective storyteller to children is going to be one of my goals for this years conference.

What about you?  What are you hoping to learn at the Orange Conference this year?  TAKE A MINUTE and post what you hope to learn.

I am hoping to learn about clear wins, setting up a good environment, seeing children and teens coming to Christ, and winning at home with the parents!
