From Bench to Superstars

In case you missed it, there is a new superstar in the making in the N.B.A. and his name is Jeremy Lin.  About 2 weeks ago you probably never heard about him.  He was sitting on the bench, rarely playing.  But, because of injuries, Lin has gotten to play a lot and he has made the most of his opportunity.  Since he was inserted into the starting lineup, the Knicks are 8-2 and  has taken the nation by storm with his exceptional play and very impressive numbers.

No one knew Jeremy was capable of this kind of performance when he started. But, given the chance Jeremy had not only done a good job, he has transformed the Knicks from losers into playoff contenders.

This caused me to ask the question – who is on our bench in ministry that just needs to “start a game” to really start contributing?  Who is capable of much, much more, but just hasn’t been given the opportunity?  Who needs to “sub” into the game to show what they are capable of doing?

Regardless of who that “sub” is, there is probably someone on the sidelines of your ministry right now who wants to get into the game, but just hasn’t been given the opportunity.  So right now, TAKE A MINUTE and think through those who are on the sidelines.  What can they do for you and how can they step in and make an immediate impact like Jeremy Lin?  Process it through and then initiate a conversation so that person can “sub” in and get into the game.

Thoughts, comments, questions, suggestions?  Post something so that we can all learn from each other and benefit.

Thanks. I was hesitant to jump on the Lin bandwagon but the connection was there so I used it 🙂
