the Monday Morning Debrief: Youth Ministry fads

Cabbage Patch kids.  Troll Dolls. Zhu Zhu Pets.  Even Silly Bandz!  Fads that have come and gone.  I remember back in 1983 while we were living in Germany at the time, my mom did everything she could to get a Cabbage Patch Kid for me on Christmas.  Yes, I’m not ashamed to admit it, I really wanted one.  She got it for me but it was really hard.  Here is a list done recently of the top consumer fads ever.

Fads in consumer products come and go almost yearly.  So it made me wonder of youth ministry fads. Sure, there were the goatees, the birkenstocks and tevas and even a little pony tail.  But what are the other fads of youth ministry both in appearance and in ministry ideas or philosophy?

TAKE A MINUTE and post some – funny or not – and give me your pros and cons to the affects these fads had on youth ministry.
