the Monday Morning Debrief: Christmas Parties

As Christmas quickly approaches and students get ready for some vacation, those glorious Student Ministry Parties are right around the corner (or have just happened).  Our Student Ministry just celebrated last night as we did our annual White Elephant Party.

It was a simple night, but great none-the-less.  It is actually one of the nights that the students look forward to the most.  Something about wrapping up “junk” or goofy presents and trading them around with some random diamonds in the rough (I walked away with Despicable Me 2 on DVD) is always fun.  Other than the White Elephant exchange, we had a great time filled with Christmas snacks, a time of singing Christmas songs and a short message by me about the true meaning of Christmas.  Again, pretty simple and easy to plan but the students loved it.  It’s the perfect end-of-the-year finale for our group.

Do you do an end-of-the-year Christmas party?  If so, what do you do?  Anything unique or different that really sets the party apart from other things you do?  Take a minute to share your ideas so that we can all benefit and maybe even find something new to do with our students for this year or years to come.
