The GOOD and the BAD of Instagram’s integration into Hootsuite

Last week Hootsuite integrated Instagram into is Social Media Management Dashboard.  This is very good news for many of us, but it’s not quiet perfect.

It’s good because…

1. It allows you to schedule your Instagram Post.  Other than the “Publish” app, you can’t schedule Instagram posts anywhere.  So being able to schedule from Hootsuite is a big deal.

2. You can schedule from your laptop or computer, not just a phone.  Hootsuite is the ONLY app out there that allows you to schedule your Instagram posts from a web-based application.  This is a really big deal because if you are scheduling your tweets of Facebook posts from your laptop (as I do a lot), you can include Instagram into this.

It’s not quiet perfect because…

1. It won’t just post when you have it scheduled.  It will send you a notification on your phone and then you have to go into Instagram and post it.  It would be great if it just sent it for you and you didn’t have to do anything else other than schedule it.

2. If you type up a post with your picture on Hootsuite it does not carry over to Instagram.  So you have to type it all over again which is kind of frustrating to say the least.

So, that is what I discovered by playing around with Instagram on Hootsuite.  The good and the not quiet perfect.

What about you?  Have you started using Instagram with Hootsuite?  What have you discovered to be good or not quiet perfect?  Share below or on social media using #ymsidekick.
