The 1 Question you need to ask your Senior Pastor

There are a lot of questions you need to ask your Senior Pastor when you first get on staff.  But this one, found in this short video is probably the biggest, most important one. Watch it below.

What’s the question? It’s, “what is your vision for the church”?

Here is why this question is so important. Because if creates alignment within the Church staff. If his vision is to reach people for Christ and your vision is to disciple people there is a real difference in what you both view as important.  That valued importance will cause you to make decisions one way and him to make decisions another way.  When the happens, there will be frustration and conflict.  Now, conflict will come no matter what situation you are in, but this is unnecessary conflict.

However, if you are aligned on vision, you will tend to both make similar decisions because what you both value as important is agreed upon.  Now, the strategy may look different but what you both value as important will be lined up because you are aligned on vision.

So…do you know your Senior Pastor’s vision? I hope so, but if you don’t now is the perfect opportunity for you to set up a meeting to find out what that is.  Set up a meeting today to discuss and make sure you all both on the same page moving forward.

What do you think? Are there other more important questions to be asking your Senior Pastor? If so, I would love to hear them. Share your thoughts and examples below or on social media using #ymsidekick.
