Look Back on 2020 to See God’s Blessing

The Lord works in mysterious ways and it is not beyond Him to work mysteriously and powerfully even in the midst of a pandemic. Yes, by now we all know that 2020 has had its challenges. But just because there have been challenges, doesn’t mean that the entire year was terrible. In fact, there could have been a lot of great things that God did over the course of the year.

In 1 Thessalonians 5:18 ESV says, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

2020While 2020 brought challenges that we did not expect, there was good that happened. And, for that, we should be thankful for what God did. That is why, before we go into 2021, it would be a good exercise to take time to reflect on all the good things God has done. So, if you haven’t already done this, take a few minutes to write down all the good things God has done in your ministry or personal life. How have you been blessed? Where have you seen God do positive things? Write it down. After you are done, take time to pray and thank the Lord for what He has done and then pray for 2021 as you get ready to enter it.

Even though this year may have been a challenging years in a variety of ways, God was moving. He doesn’t stop moving just because there is a pandemic going on. He has been doing great things around. We may have just been so caught up in the bad or negative, it can be hard to see God’s blessing. So, make it a priority that before you go to 2021, take time to reflect on the goodness of God. Thank Him for all the blessings and trust Him to do even more amazing things in the new year.

What do you think? How have you seen God’s blessing on your or your ministry in 2020? What has he been doing? Share below or on social media using #ymsidekick when you share.
