Quotes and Encouragement from the Church Online Summit 2021

For the last 2 years Steve Fogg has hosted the Church Online Summit. Both years have been great events where Church and Digital Ministry Leaders encourage and support others with new and creative ways to use online tools to minister to people more effectively in today’s world. What was great about this year’s Church Online Summit was that we are now a year into our COVID filled world so the topics were a little different than last year’s summit. WE have learned so much over the past year so the topics centered around more in-depth strategy of doing online ministry, not just the basics.

Here is a list of quotes that the various speakers shared throughout that encouraged and challenged me.

“Most guests make up their mind in the 1st 7 minutes whether or not they will return to a church. I think they make up their mind even quicker online.” – Greg Atkinson

“Guests are fearful, anxious, and skeptical. They are looking for a reason to leave.” – Greg Atkinson

“While we have more people alive on earth today, than ever before, we are still more connected than we have ever been because of technology.” – Alan George

“People are wired to make a difference.” – Amanda Sims

“Online really scales in a way that physical church doesn’t. We haven’t even begun to tap the potential of online church.” – Carey Nieuwhof

“If you limit physical attendance to who gathers in a building Sunday morning you are really limiting your vision.” – Carey Nieuwhof

“The church that connects people is going to eclipse the church that just gathers people.” – Carey Nieuwhof

“Consider investing in a wow moment. There are plenty of ways to make a wow moment possible. Consider which is right for you and do it.” – Ben Stapley

“A Multimodal Church recognizes that there are different ways to effectively disciple people.” – Jeff Reed

“Social media allows us to have a voice and to connect with people that we potentially could not connect with while only relying on in person ministry.” – Tyler Sansom
