Black Friday Ministry Tradition

I must admit – I love Black Friday!  I love getting all the ads early Thursday morning and mapping out my route so that I know how I can best make use of my time.  As weird as this sounds, I even love standing in line hanging with all the people who are just as crazy as you.  I love the deals but probably more importantly, I love the insanity of trying to find your item before it sells out.

I have gone Black Friday shopping every year for the past 9 years…until today!  I did not go Black Friday shopping today.  For various reasons, I just couldn’t go shopping this morning.  It was a hard to break the tradition, but alas, all things must come to an end sometime.

Even though there was so much to love about Black Friday and the shopping, one thing I started doing on Black Friday would be to meet up with students or other leaders during that time and kinda debrief about what we were getting (or got) and how things were going.  I would usually try to meet up with a few for coffee or even in the middle of a parking lot.  It was a great, simple ministry opportunity that I used.  It was nothing spectacular, but it was a connection I had with students that further relationships.  It became a little bit of a tradition for some of us.

TAKE A MINUTE and think through some simple things or events that are out there that you could use for ministry.  What are they and how could you build a tradition out of that and really build relationships in a different, unique way?  If you already I have something that has become a tradition for you post a comment so that we can all benefit.
