How to increase social media engagement over the holidays

Social media engagement is key to any content creation.  You want whatever you create to be shared all over.  Well, the holidays are some of those perfect tent-pole events that allow church communicators and social media managers to gain a lot of engagement on social media.

Learn how in this video:

  1. Create a Video of the Staff sharing well wishes. Whatever the holiday is – Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter or even a national holiday – have the Staff do a quick video segment that you compile together and send out on the day of the holiday.  I’ve done this multiple times throughout the years and it always gets a ton of shares, like and comments on them…more so than any image created to say basically the same thing.
  2. Share Recipes for favorite meals. People are always looking for new ideas when it comes to food around the holidays.  Why not share some of the staff’s favorite foods or family recipes?
  3. Have Staff share favorite holiday memories.  Most of the people in your church will only get to know the “on stage” or “up front” persona of a staff member.  However, when you share a picture of the staffer and one or two of they favorite memories around that particular holiday you make that person “real” to the average church attender.  They get to know that staffer in a way they may never have that opportunity before.

I’ve found these to be very successful ideas to increase social media engagement for your church or ministry over the holidays.
